Manchester to Whalley - day 13 - 17 July

For work reasons I was 7 miles south of Manchester, adjacent to the airport so that turned 34 miles into 41 and I added some more on the end as there is a 67 mile stage coming up which I want to shorten a little.

An early photo

 Code breakers wanted
A modern back addition
My route was under this bridge, er, no.
A carving which I was starting to walk around to read when I noticed the words were on a plaque
I am keen on trees but not heard of TreeCharter
Another lovely bridge
The steps down were angled flights and thus more attractive
This looked (and sounded) better in real life

These individually decorated stones went on for more than 700 feet, the Tottington Snake
Groundsmen were busy working on the cricket field
I though I would pass the tower on the horizon but I didn't
I was lucky to meet a local man walking his dog and pushing one of his three children in a buggy who knew which of the two choices for route 6 to take, this one. He was jealous of my journey.
 Good recycling.
I could not climb this but luckily the offer won't be made.
The Shoe Mill Baxenden Signal Box
 What a view
 A pleasing prospect
 Great views today
The destination hotel is always a welcome sight
Only one beer on tap rather than the usual four but it was a local one
 The menu
 Beer!
Prawn and avocado cocktail
Whale sized cod - delicious
No idea how slowly turning the pedals has got me to Lancashire
