Bristol to Gloucester - 12 July

The lovely room at the Mercure Holland House in Bristol that I woke up in.
1 minute from the hotel I went through Queen Square, a good start to the day

The lawns have been socially distanced with heart markings
A lovely triangular building, a city I was attracted to.
I had never seen 'disabled' painted across a dropped kerb before, not an authorised marking.
The M4 was quiet. I also went over the M48 and under the M5
I met up with my best man, Stan, in Berkeley as he fancied a blast on his 1000cc motorbike. Mine was the smoothie, his the milkshake.
Me, after lunch.

These bikes were advertising a 2018 event.
Still not cleared away. Bit of a race.
This was after half the birds flew away when my brakes made a noise.

Look at the silo. The cows looked at me.
Hard to beat this other slow form of transport.
This swing bridge was a powered one.
Had my afternoon sandwich sat here.

Unusual boat.
Cygnets!
Lovely houses adjacent to the hotel.
First view of the hotel, it promised much.
Two domes for groups to eat in.

Airline wine bottles with dinner. Waitress dropped the top and was very apologetic. I was amused, it was like a little coracle. I fished it out and drank on.

Bread roll average but prawn cocktail ok.
Salmon was good but I was 3 pints and 2 red wines in at this point.
A lovely cheese board. Chef sent his apologies for the lack of celery, I didn't miss it.

This was breakfast at the Bristol Mercure, all cooked to order, lovely.

Then to bed and avoid the light switches.

Here for comparison is the Mercure Bowden Hall Gloucester breakfast of 13 July
There was a price difference. £98 at Bristol and £65 at Gloucester but I know which hotel I would go back to. Hello Bristol.

Time to pedal to Worcester.

Derek
