Gretna Green to Abington - Day 17 - 21 July

When I came to book the Abington Hotel I found it had closed down and the only other place was a Days Inn within the motorway services which I wasn't sure I could reach on a bicycle. I therefore decided to stop short in Moffat, a lovely town. I shall have an early start tomorrow and pedal hard and long to Glasgow, some 60 miles.

Photos from Gretna

The birthplace of Thomas Carlyle

A bird box opposite the house, made out of a log.
Local recreation area, the Haggs
I couldn't go through Lockerbie without visting the memorial garden, a sad event though it was. The graveyard within which it sits is well maintained.

Most of the route today shadowed the M74 on the old A74. The route was quiet apart from the hum of the motorway.
The view north from the plaque.
On entering Moffat, an advert for my hotel, some sheep and a great view.
I will be dreaming not star gazing later
A good map, lots happening in Moffat.
Before Lockerbie I saw a brown sign informing me of the Ukrainian POW Chapel and as I have a Ukrainian friend in London I diverted myself to have a look see and take some photos for her. It is of general historical interest.

Closed but the view through the window.

A short day. Tomorrow may not have so much free time for photos.
