Final stage - Lybster to John O'Groats - 29 July

I had no idea when I set off if my journey would end in the north east of Scotland or if my body would crack before I had even left Cornwall. I had in years long ago run marathons and am persistent so hoped I would make it and so it came to pass. I was slightly emotional once I saw the 3 miles to go marker and when standing at the finger post. Other people there and I took each others photos and we had lovely conversation. One man told his wife he would have to retire so he could have a go at doing the same as me. She didn't say yes or no so that one is probably being discussed over dinner.

The stage was on the short side at 30 miles but it was still blowing pretty hard and raining when it felt like it. I kept my waterproof jacket on for all of the journey so as to stay warm.

The highland cow wasn't overly worried about me so i got a good coupole of shots before it wandered off for greener grass.

There were great views all day
The Hill O' Many Stanes was only a 1/4 mile diversion uphill into the wind so I took it.

You can see the lines in this photo.
I had seen the narrowest street in Scotland in Moffat when I stayed in the famous Star, the narrowest free standing hotel.
The castle at Old Wick was slightly hard to find but google sorted it.
 The view near the castle
 A lovely square in Wick

The hotel stands on three streets so this short one is only 6 feet 9 inches.
Wick has two harbours, I only passed the empty one.

I'm here
Good photos, I hope mine of the couple were as good as the ones they tpook of me.

The Duncansby Head Lighthouse is further north so I went whilst I was in the area. I think this is a height marker at the locale.

Some info about seals.
Sheep that were curious and came to the camera.

I must have got the phone in the selfie stick the wrong way around so part of the image was obscured. Doh.

My best helmet hair. My new helmet is so light that i don't really notice it.
Local beer, it has travelled about 200m before hitting my glass.
A rest day tomorrow, bike taxi to Inverness and then 3 days ride to stay with friends in Edinburgh.
